Dra. Yolanda Esperanza Garrido Hernández

Yolanda is Biologist (2008) and PhD in Plant Biology (2016), both degrees with First Degree Award. She also has a Higher Technician degree in Management and Organisation of Natural and Landscape Resources and completed the Master in Biotechnology and Biology of Plant Stress, thus completing their formation in agriculture and crop production.
In 2009, she joined the Department of Plant Biology at the University of Murcia to collaborate in some research projects related to conservation of native flora in Region of Murcia. She started her PhD in 2011 with a Research Personnel Training Fellowship (BES-2011-044616) from the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (2011-2015) at the Food Quality and Safety Group (CEBAS-CSIC, Murcia).

Her research topics during her PhD have been (i) quality and safety of fruits and vegetables, (ii) scientific and technological development of fresh cut products, (iii) influence of agronomic and genetic factors and technological processes on the content of bioactive compounds, (iv) risk assessment of chemical and microbiological contamination in food of plant origin. Since 2020 she is developing his postdoctoral stage in the Green Chemical Process Engineering group (Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Murcia).

She has published 18 articles in scientific journals indexed in SCI with a high impact factor (approximately 75% in the first quartile) in the fields of Food Science and Technology, Agronomy and Engineering, and more recently in the field of Green Chemical Engineering.

Her research interests include the application of his expertise in agronomy and food technology in the research and development of green alternatives in agricultural systems, food processing, and reuse of agricultural by-products, as well as the acquisition of expertise in green chemical engineering technologies.
