Dra. Francisca Tomás Alonso

Francisca Tomas Alonso is assistant professor of the Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Murcia (Spain). She graduated in Chemistry (1980) from the University of Murcia (UMU, Spain). PhD in Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Murcia, (1990), with the qualification of Cum Laude, in collaboration con the Catalysis and Petrol Chemistry Institute of the Superior Council of Scientific Investigations. She has been teaching at the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering of Cartagena for 16 years, having been a principal researcher of the group "Catalysis Heterogeneous" (E066-03) of the Department of Chemical Engineering in that Campus. 

She is currently a member of the Research Group "Green Chemical Process Engineering" (E034-12) of the University of Murcia, and the group "Green and Sustainable Chemical Technology" of the Campus Mare Nostrum. She has participated in numerous research projects, financed by public entities (Seneca Foundation, Ministry of Science and Innovation, European Coal and Steel Commission), as well as in contracts with various private entities. She has published more than 50 research papers in international journals of impact, and is the author of almost a hundred contributions in International Congresses, as well as a patent. She has also been referee of international journals, such as Energy and Fuels or Environmental Science and Technology. She has directed more than 30 Final Degree Projects in Industrial Engineering, as well as Final Degree Projects and one Doctoral Theses. 

She has been a member of the Technological Research Support Service Board (SAIT) of the Campus of Cartagena (1995-1998) and Coordinator of the Technology Specialty of the University Master's Degree in Teacher Training for Compulsory Secondary Education, Vocational Training, Language Teachings and Artistic Teaching (2009-2010). Member of the Cloister of the University of Murcia, and of the Academic Distinctions Committee of the Cloister between 2010 and 2014.

She has chaired the Scholarship Committee of the Cloister and the Claims Commission of Contracted Professors of the University of Murcia between the years 2010 and 2014. 

She is a member of the Royal Spanish Society of Physics and Chemistry and the National Association of Chemists of Spain. In the period 2014-2016, and she was Vice-Rector of Transfer and Entrepreneurship of the University of Murcia.
