Adrián Hernández-Fernández

Adrian is a Chemical Engineer (2019) and has expanded his knowledge in this field by completing a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering (2022). In October 2019 he joined the agri-food and environmental laboratory Eurofins Ecosur as an analyst in the chromatography department, performing multiple jobs in agri-food chemical analysis and chromatographic equipment maintenance.

In October 2020 he joined the Chemical Engineering Department of the University of Murcia to collaborate in some research projects related to biofuels, process intensification and sustainable agriculture as a specialist technician while pursuing a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Murcia.

Currently, he enjoys a four-year FPI contract, funded by the Seneca Foundation to develop his doctoral thesis. He has published 5 articles in SCI journals with high impact factor (Q2) in fields such as membrane technology, polymers, biotechnology, applied microbiology or biochemistry. He has participated in 4 research projects as a technical specialist, 3 of them public and 1 private, and has contributed in 11 communications in national and 2 international congresses. His lines of research are (i) development and applications of ion selective electrodes based on ionic liquids, (ii) obtaining biofuels through the use of supercritical fluids and ionic liquids, (iii) applications of supercritical fluids and ionic liquids to reaction and/or separation processes, (iv) development and optimization of fuel cells, (v) studies on the extraction and application of compounds of agricultural interest. His future research interests include the transfer of the knowledge acquired throughout his studies and his professional experience in the research and development of sustainable alternatives in agricultural systems, pollutant purification, biofuels and new green technologies with the support of the Green Chemical Process Engineering group (University of Murcia). In this sense, special attention will be paid to the problems associated with nitrate pollution in agricultural systems, developing sustainable solutions for the management of agricultural activities.
