Ana Sánchez studied a bachelor’s and master’s degree in biotechnology in 2016 and 2017, respectively at University of Murcia. In August 2017, she carried out a 3-month research stay at Technische Universität Dresden (Germany). In 2018, Ana Sánchez was awarded a FPU contract from the University Teacher Training Program financed by the Spanish Government to conduct a PhD thesis focused on modelling microalgae-bacteria consortia in wastewater treatment at University of Almería. In September 2021, Ana conducted 3-months research stay at the Politecnico di Milano (Italy) under a mobility grant for beneficiaries of FPU. In May 2022, Ana Sánchez finished the PhD thesis and started as a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Almeria. In September 2022, she carried out a 3-week research stay at Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (Germany) funded by ParAqua EU COST Action. In April 2023, she carried out a 3-month research stay at National Institute of Engineering, Technology, and Innovation (INETI) (Portugal) funded by Red CYTED P319RT0025 – RENUWAL. Currently, she is Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Murcia. Over the past 5 years, Ana Sánchez has published 35 JCR research publications in the fields of microalgal biotechnology and wastewater treatment processes based on microalgae-bacteria consortia. She has officially participated as investigator in 2 national projects, 2 international projects and 6 industrial transfer contracts, 2 of them with Biorizon Biotech S.L., a leading company in the production of microalgae for agriculture. In addition, she is co-PI of a private collaboration contract CHLYDRO. Ana is a member of Ibero-American Network for the Treatment of Effluents with Microalgae (RENUWAL) and ParAqua EU Cost Action. Also, she is a member of the IWA Task Group on the modelling and algae and other phototrophic systems.
